Learn more about Green Tea...
Tea and Health
Tea was first consumed for
its beneficial, reviving
properties, and science has
proved what folk medicine
knew all along. In addition
to containing minerals and
vitamins, tea has a good
dose of polyphenols, which
act as antioxidants, mopping
up free radicals that damage
the body. These poyphenols
are particularly potent in
green tea. Tea is
thought to act against
problems such as heart
disease, cancer, and tooth
decay.
Tea has less caffeine per
cup than coffee, but if you
want to lessen the caffeine
content in your tea, infuse
for as short a time as
possible, or pour away the
first brew and re-use the
leaves so there will be less
of the water-soluble
caffeine in the next brew.
